Vilarejo do Secretário

The mountains, at the pace of the river

O Secretário is a mountain hamlet between Petrópolis and Itaipava, where the Casa do Colono was built decades ago to house the people who worked the land. Restored, it became the heart of the place — and gained four suites around it, scattered between garden, forest and rock.

The idea

Authenticity is the greatest luxury these mountains have to offer. The brand and the site were built not to compete with it: to step aside and let the house, the antique shop and the forest speak.

01

The logo refresh

The previous mark was a blue house in a heavy outline, with the name set in lowercase serif. It worked, but it fought the blue-doored façade that is the postcard of the place — two blues arguing in the same picture. The refresh dropped the colour and the weight: what is left is the roof in a thin line, almost a gesture, and the name in caps with wide letter spacing. The animation shows one turning into the other.

02

The website

Five ways to stay, an antique shop that changes with every visit and a whole mountain range around it: the site organises all of that without turning into a catalogue. The navigation splits what people actually look for — suites, experiences, RL Garimpo, the mountains — and booking lives in a single section, each suite leading to its own Airbnb page, with WhatsApp alongside for anyone who would rather ask first.

What the site had to translate

Every object at the Vilarejo has a story and is for sale — RL Garimpo is a living antique shop, and the decor changes with every visit. That is what the site had to carry: not a list of amenities, but the feeling of a place where time moves at the pace of the river.

The Casa do Colono head-on: whitewashed walls, blue doors and the stone courtyard under the old tiled roof.
A weathered wooden shrine set into the white wall, with lit candles and plants around it.
Organic-edged pool in front of the house, with straw parasols and forest all around.
RL Garimpo at night, lit by a string of bulbs and woven straw lamps.
